How your money makes a difference

The money you raise means that, together, we can keep supporting projects in the UK and across the world that help children to be happier, families stronger, women safer, communities prouder and millions of lives fairer.

As the CEO of The Brick, a Comic Relief funded project which runs the multibank Brick by Brick, Keely and her team provide household goods that most of us take for granted to people from all walks of life, who are struggling to get by. They do this by accepting surplus stock donated by companies and passing it on to more than three hundred organisations and partners working in the surrounding communities.

In Wigan and Lee, where Brick by Brick operates, one in three children are living in poverty. “There are thousands of children who are not sleeping in a bed every night, because the family can’t afford a bed. There are houses that don’t have curtains, they don’t have carpets. There’s no flooring. Houses are cold. People are scared to put their heating up,” says Keely, devastated by the scale and depth of the problems people are facing. But she’s also determined to provide daily essentials, quality items to support children’s wellbeing and development, and treats to brighten the day of anyone who’s struggling.
