DEIB stands for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. These are essential principles for creating a workplace culture that values and supports everyone, regardless of their background or identity.
Diversity is the presence of differences within a group:
Race
Ethnicity
Gender
Age
Sexual Orientation
Disability
Religion
Socioeconomic Status
These are just some of the ways that diversity can present itself - and there are many more ways beyond this list.
Equity is ensuring fair treatment, access, opportunities, and advancement for all people while striving to identify and eliminate barriers that hinder full participation.
Inclusion is creating environments where any individual or group feels welcomed and respected.
Belonging goes beyond inclusion to ensure everyone feels accepted and valued for their authentic selves, making them feel an integral part of the organisation, our vision, and our mission.
These principles aim to foster a work environment where everyone feels important and can fully contribute to Comic Relief’s success.
Our Commitment
We are committed to challenging and ending discrimination in all its forms. We model this commitment in how we work and how we treat one another. In a just society — and a just organisation — no one should face barriers because of who they love, where they come from, or the circumstances that have shaped their lives, including fleeing war, climate catastrophe, or tyranny.
At Comic Relief, we want everyone to feel able to bring their whole self to work. That is true regardless of age, class, disability, gender, gender identity, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Inclusion is not optional, it is fundamental to who we are and how we operate.
Together, we can help build a fairer, more just world, free from injustice and poverty.
Employee Network Groups
Comic Relief is proud to support colleagues through our Employee Network Groups (ENGs). The ENGs support Comic Relief’s broader Culture and Inclusion strategy, as well as act as enabling functions to the wider organisational strategy, and the work we do to create a just world, free from poverty.
These groups have been set up to support the work we do as an organisation be more inclusive and equitable as well as provide spaces for our colleagues to come together and celebrate their whole, true selves. Find out a bit about each of our ENGs below!
Rise
RISE supports LGBTQ+ employees at Comic Relief by providing peer support, promoting understanding of LGBTQ+ inclusion, and acting as a critical friend to the organisation. It works to influence inclusive policies and practices so LGBTQ+ staff feel safe, valued, and respected at work.
Inclusivity Collaborators
The Inclusivity Collaborators network supports all Comic Relief employees to be better collaborators by providing guidance across DEIB areas. Open to everyone regardless of identity or knowledge, the group offers a welcoming space to learn, contribute, and strengthen inclusive behaviours across the organisation.

We-CAN
WE-CAN supports employees with lived experience of wellbeing, caring, disability, and neurodiversity issues. The group provides peer support, raises awareness, influences inclusive policies, and creates safe spaces for connection, helping colleagues feel respected, included, and able to bring their whole selves to work.
EmbRACE
EmbRACE provides peer support for racialised staff at Comic Relief and celebrates the organisation’s racial diversity. It creates spaces for community, shared experiences, and mutual support, while promoting broader awareness through activities and events such as Black History Month and South Asian History Month.
