Our good friends over at Joseph Rowntree Foundation have announced a new exhibition titled Picture Britain: Our people, our poverty, running from 20 Feb to 7 March at Borough market in London. Picture Britain: Our people, our poverty’ is a powerful new photographic exhibition that challenges the way we think about people and communities held back by poverty.
With one in five of us living in poverty in the UK, this powerful collection of portraits by award-winning photographer Jillian Edelstein tells the story of people battling against the odds to unlock opportunities for themselves and their community.
Commissioned by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), Picture Britain reflects our social landscape and the experiences of people swept into poverty. The exhibition aims to reframe the picture of people in poverty by highlighting all we have in common, whatever our economic circumstances.
