Never one to miss out on a huge, celebrity-filled fundraising campaign, the world’s most famous Monkey has been putting in some long and tough hours in preparation for his very own Sport Relief challenge.
Inspired by Blue Peter presenter, Helen Skelton, who made her way to the South Pole by ski, kite ski and bike in a gruelling feat of endurance earlier this year, Monkey is now trying his hand at a momentous challenge of his own.
His aim is to inspire the Great British public to follow in his famous footsteps and do the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.
But despite good intentions and a genuine desire to support Sport Relief, judging by this short film, Monkey may have bitten off more than he can chew. And it seems he has a lot to answer for as things aren’t quite what they seem with Monkey’s arduous training regime.
Nevertheless, over 600 Mile events will be taking place across the UK on Sunday 25th March and the entire nation is invited to join in the fun. Participants can choose to do 1, 3 or 6 miles – whatever distance suits them best and can even enter as a team with family and friends.
Being a long-standing supporter of Sport Relief, Monkey knows only too well what a fantastic event the Sport Relief Mile truly is. Last time round, he stripped off and completed the Mile in all his naked glory.
Luckily, you don’t have to bare all like Monkey, you can do the Mile in whatever stylish, whacky or comfortable outfit you like.
