Comic Relief received this year’s National Television Awards Landmark Award, as it celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The announcement was made in front of hundreds of stars and thousands of fans at The O2 in London and was collected by comedian and Comic Relief Trustee Lenny Henry.
The award recognises the ground-breaking work Comic Relief does in the UK and with some of the world’s poorest communities, as well as the incredible amount of money it has raised over the past 30 years.
'We at Comic Relief are truly honoured to receive this amazing award to mark all the ridiculous things we have done to raise a stack of cash over the last three decades,' Lenny said.
'But really this award is for the great British public who have gone to extraordinary lengths, year after year, raising millions to change lives. This award recognises their commitment to help others'
Lenny presented the first ever Red Nose Day with Jonathan Ross and Griff Rhys Jones in 1988, to a UK audience of over 30 million people.
The National Television Awards was presented by Dermot O’Leary, who announced that he will be doing a ‘day of dance’ for Red Nose Day.
Dermot’s Day of Dance for Comic Relief will see the presenter dancing for 24 hours non-stop in order to raise money for Comic Relief.
