Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman and a host of famous faces from around the dance world will be taking part in the first ever Comic Relief Dancethon to raise money for Red Nose Day 2015.
Claudia will be donning leg warmers to present a six-hour non-stop dance event and she’s urging members of the public to buy tickets to join the crowd.
Choreographer Arlene Phillips, presenter Rachel Riley, comedian Rufus Hound and actress Chelsee Healey will all be shimmying on down at The SSE Arena, Wembley on Sunday 8th March 2015.
And if that’s not enough, Got to Dance’s Adam Garcia and Kimberly Wyatt, fellow Strictly Come Dancing presenter Zoe Ball and Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley will also be part of the stellar line-up.
Dance teachers on stage at the venue will be guiding the crowd on how to do a range of dances – everything from the 50’s jive up to 80’s anthems. Street dance, Latin, Hip-hop, Bollywood and West End Musicals will also feature.
“This just might be the greatest day of our lives,” Claudia said. “Wherever you live in the UK, if you like dancing, we’d love you to take part. I am ridiculously excited.”
Tickets for the main event are limited but fundraisers can also get involved by organising their own danceathons – in their local village hall, at work or even at home.
All money raised is spent by Comic Relief here in the UK, and across Africa, helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people to turn their lives around.
