Comic Relief and Malaria
Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease, yet it still remains a big threat to millions of families in Africa.
A child in Africa dies from malaria every 30 seconds. That's over 1 million lives lost a year.
Here at Comic Relief we are committed to reducing the number of deaths from malaria in Africa. This is done through lots of different methods which include both prevention and treatment of malaria. From teaching people how to use malaria nets to training health workers to rapidly diagnose malaria in the early stages.
Where your money is spent?
Your money is helping to deliver remarkable results; it is helping to protect thousands of children and families across Africa from malaria. We’re proud that since Red Nose Day 2009 we’ve already spent £8 million of your donations saving lives from this deadly disease.

United Against Malaria
Because we believe the number of deaths from malaria can be reduced, we have joined forces with footballers, non-governmental organisations and companies as well as members of the public to form a global coalition called United Against Malaria (UAM).
Our overall goal is to renew worldwide governmental commitment to ending deaths from malaria, as well as increasing the use of prevention equipment and access to malaria treatment in Africa.
